The Ingredients
• (2) 1 1/2" tuna steaks
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 1 tablespoon sesame oilÂ
• 1 tablespoon agave
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepperÂ
• 1 tablespoon canola oil or olive oil
• green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and lime wedges for serving
The Method
Step 1
Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, agave, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper until completely mixed. Coat ahi completely. Allow to marinate at least 10 minutes.
Step 2
Heat a skillet on medium-high to high until very hot. Add the canola oil to the hot pan. Sear the tuna for 1 -1½ minutes on each side for medium rare.
Step 3
Remove to a cutting board. Slice into 1/2 inch slices and serve garnished with green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice, if desired.
