About the Recipe

Easy to follow beer battered fish recipe. Add a touch of English flair by adding a side of curry as a dipping sauce.

The Ingredients

  • 2 lb fresh fish filets

  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour, extra for initial coating of fish

  • 1 ts garlic powder

  • 1/2 ts turmeric

  • 1/2 ts cumin

  • 1/2 ts cayenne pepper

  • 12 oz amber ale

  • 1 juiced lemon

  • Salt and pepper for initial seasoning of fish

The Method

Step 1

Whisk flour, garlic powder, turmeric, cumin, cayenne, ale, and lemon juice.

Step 2

Season filets with salt and pepper then coat in flour. Set aside. Heat oil to 300⁰F.

Step 3

Dunk and cover filets in batter. Cook 4-6 minutes until golden brown.

Step 4

Serve with fries and a side of curry sauce for dipping!
